Surface Modifications for Potential Biomedical Implants Applications(1)

       2013海峽兩岸功能材料科技與產業峯會——Surface modifications play an important role in the biocompatibility of biomedical implants. In my talk, I will show some surface modifications for potential biomedical implants applications. The first part will be focusing on the effects of plasma immersion ion implantation on the surface characterizations and biological responses of biomedical pure Ti, Ti alloys, and Zr-based bulk metallic glass. Secondly, I will introduce the effects of thin Ta2O5/apatite double coatings on the surface characterizations and biological responses of biomedical pure Ti. In the last part, the effects of nanoporous surface thin layer on the in vitro and in vivo biological responses to biomedical pure Ti and Ti alloys will be discussed.
