Acid catalysts from rice husk ash: Catalytic activity in dehydration of pentoses

第二届国际生物质催化炼制大会(CATBIOR 2013)——Sulfated zirconia-waste obtained from rice husk is a promising catalyst for the dehydration of pentoses using water as a solvent, since at 140℃ the catalysts achieved a 40% of selectivity at 98% of conversion. The use of ultrasound during the aging decreases the synthesis time without significantly affecting the structural characteristics of the solids.
