Repair likely involves re-invoking developmental programs/processes, particularly those that underlie plasticity & adaptation. Better to work in concert with these stem cell programs than at cross-purposes to them. Disease & injuries that can be addressed by molecular therapies or cell protection may be the "low hanging fruit" for stem cell-mediated interventions.
